Summer School of Statistical Methods
SC&C Partner + Service for Science
"The Summer School of Statistical Methods showed me how important statistics is for scientific work and that it can also be fun... Thanks to the lecturer."
Lenka Kuboňová, VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava
Is this event for me?
Who is the summer school suitable for? The Summer School of Statistical Methods is intended mainly for: doctoral students, academics and scientists. The program of this traditional summer school is based directly on the lecturers' experience with research and teaching at universities. But it is also inspired by everyday experiences with the Six Sigma methodology in improving processes in practice.
The summer school will make it easier for you to prepare and process experiments, and will significantly speed up and make the processing of your experimental results more accurate, including their interpretation and presentation.

- Use methods such as design of experiment, data preparation, hypothesis testing, control charts, and other advanced methods in your research.
- You will play educational games (e.g. shooting from a catapult).
- The summer school will be led by a specialist lecturer who has both deep theoretical knowledge and invaluable practical experience with the real-world use of the taught statistical methods in scientific research, industrial practice, services, etc.
Around 20 - 30 doctoral students and academic staff from Central European colleges and universities participate in the summer schools every year.
How is the training done - why Minitab?
"Minitab is the world's leading statistics education software. It is packed with features that make it easy to understand technical concepts and support the learning process."
"Designed for Learning"
Why do we think Minitab statistical software is the best for summer school purposes?
- It is easy to use while maintaining an emphasis on accurate and correct results. The computational methods and procedures used are openly described and are based on renowned professional literature.
- Minitab was created at a university (in the USA) specifically for the purpose of teaching statistics. The goal was (and still is) to allow students to focus on slavish calculations (e.g. with a calculator) and to think about the meaning and application of the methods being discussed.
- Minitab has an excellent Help , which also contains a mathematical description of the implemented methods, including direct references to professional literature.
- Currently, this software is used at more than 4,000 universities worldwide. We are pleased that other university institutions from the Czech Republic and Slovakia are gradually joining them (in recent years, these have included Charles University, JE Purkyně University, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University, and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic).
What do users say?
"Recently, our statistics courses have seen more and more people who have Minitab in their workplace and often ask questions about its use and interpretation of results. I work with it myself and consult on some thesis projects in which Minitab is used. I am very satisfied. It is excellent software. I support you and wish you much success."
Ing. Josef Křepela (lecturer of mathematical statistics, honorary member of the Czech Society for Quality)
